Saichania - beautiful dinosaur

Saichania is a genus of herbivorous dinosaurs that lived on the territory of today's Mongolia and China during the Late Cretaceous Period, about 73 million years ago.

Saichania was over 5 m long and weighed some 2 tons. Its body was flat, with neck vertebrae, shoulder girdle, ribs and breast bones fused or firmly connected. The head and rear surface were protected by bulbous armor tiles, and, in addition, it could defend itself against predators with a powerful tail-club.

The name of this prehistoric animal means "the beautiful one" in Mongolian, referring to the pristine state of preservation of the type specimen discovered.
