Patagosaurus - Long-necked Prehistoric Animal

Best long neck dinosaur pictures and toys - Patagosaurus!

The name comes from the location of its find in Patagonia (Greek for "Patagonian lizard"), as its fossilized remains have been discovered in that geographic region of Argentina.

This herbivorous dinosaur lived in the late Jurassic period, some 163 - 161 million years ago. It was up to 18 m long, and weighed between 5 and 10 tons.

Patagosaurus had a small skull, with a muzzle similar to that of today's giant see turtle. It had an elongated neck, massive trunk, and an extraordinarily long tail. This clumsy prehistoric giant moved slowly on its four thick, pillar-like legs. Its four-toed feet were armed with four sharp claws each.
