Achelousaurus translates from Ancient Greek as "Achelous's lizard". This prehistoric animal lived in the Late Cretaceous Period, around 75 million years ago, in what is now North America.

Achelousaurus was four-legged herbivorous dinosaur with a parrot-like beak, ruffled bony outgrowths on its snout and behind the eyes, and a pair of long horns at the back of its head, used in selfdefense against predators. It strongly resembled today's rhinoceros or hippopotamus.

Achelousaurus was 6 meters long, and weighed 3 tons, like three modern day elephants.
