Hylaeosaurus - plant-eating dinosaur

Dinosaur pictures-dinosaurs-Hylaeosaurus!

Hylaeosaurus ( meaning "woodland lizard" ) was an armored four-legged plant-eating dinosaur that lived in the early Cretaceous Period, about 135 - 119 million years ago.

Hylaeosaurus had a toothless horny beak and leaf-shaped cheek. It was about 4 m long, had short legs, a narrow head with a pointed snout, a long heavy tail, and spikes along its shoulders and sides.  In fact, its entire body was protected from predators with oval plates embedded in its skin all over the top.

Hylaeosaurus was likely a solitary animal, not living in herds. It foraged through the underbrush in search of plant life that it could eat.

Fossil remains of this prehistoric animal have been found in southern England.
